Entering Ap Ugyen’s homestay in itself is an experience. Push open the wooden door (with traditional latch system) and you will arrive at a small courtyard with mini sitting areas. Then as you climb up the ladder, you will notice the many traditional sporting equipment arranged on the wall. Then as you proceed onto the hall, you cannot help but think that this hall in itself could be a museum. Many bronze, bamboo and wooden utensils are arranged on the shelves. They have a spacious living room and kitchen attached. You must ask for their Kabchi breakfast spread for a traditional way to start the day.
This homestay has previously hosted traditional Bhutanese marriage ceremonies for its guests and also provided hot stone bath facilities. Their homestay is situated a little above the Dumcho bridge but still close by to Lhakhang Karpo and Nagpo.
Highlights
- They can facilitate marriage ceremonies
- Hot stone bath facilities
- Vegetable picking from their garden
- Archery and other sports
