Kinley Wangmo from Wangtsa, Haa is the first and only homestay host in her community. Her early days were a trial of grit, offering guests bare rooms with creaking wooden floors and lacking proper amenities. Today, Kinley’s homestay offers clean and comfortable rooms equipped with basic amenities. However, the true heart of her hospitality lies in her kitchen. Every meal cooked over a traditional mud stove and offered with the intention of making strangers feel at home. Despite the ongoing challenge of the language barrier, Kinley bridges the gap with patience and help from travel agents. The steady stream of visitors drawn by the beauty of Wangtsa and the allure of the Sagala Trek has brought financial stability, allowing her to raise her children and support their education.
