2. Respect Local Culture and Traditions
Haa is home to close-knit communities where traditions remain strong. When visiting temples or monasteries:
- Dress modestly (long sleeves and long trousers or skirts).
- Remove shoes before entering sacred spaces.
- Ask permission before taking photographs of people or religious ceremonies.
Showing courtesy goes a long way in preserving the valley’s warm hospitality.
3. Protect the Natural Environment
Haa’s rivers and forests are exceptionally clean and ecologically sensitive. Whether hiking, camping, or fly-fishing:
- Carry out all waste.
- Stay on designated trails.
- Do not disturb wildlife or vegetation.
Seasonal Advice:
- Spring (Mar–May): Best for rhododendrons and birdwatching.
- Summer (Jun–Aug): Green landscapes, mild rain, great for festivals.
- Autumn (Sep–Nov): Ideal trekking and festival season.
- Winter (Dec–Feb): Clear skies for stargazing and spiritual retreats.
